Tom Mighell and I got the idea to do something we call the “Second Brain project” back in 2020. We first discussed it in a podcast we called “Eureka! – The Beginnings of Dennis and Tom’s Second Brain Project.” We’ve now done a total of eight episodes on our thinking and our progress.

Forensic Biopsy. Called in before the autopsy.
Dennis Kennedy is the Principal Investigator at the Kennedy Idea Propulsion Laboratory (KIPL), where he investigates AI and innovation challenges when standard playbooks fail.
His framework is The NeoHolmesian Method he's developed: treating complex problems as investigations rather than predictions. Where most see uncertainty, he see patterns. Where most offer forecasts, he offers methods.

Organization Innovation Risk Tolerance Quiz
For many years, modern portfolio theory and its adaptation to technology and innovation in law has been one of my recurring big themes. It’s time for another creator economy experiment. I’ve been thinking and talking about trying Gumroad to offer for sale some of my smaller information products (templates, worksheets, handouts, et al.) that aren’t available elsewhere, are valuable, and aren’t currently helping others.
Gumroad is a very popular service that allows creators to monetize these kinds of…

A New Use for Personal Quarterly Offsites
Regular readers of this blog will know that I’m a big advocate for Personal Quarterly Offsites. These are half-day personal retreats designed to help me (and you, I hope) focus on the “important but not urgent” quadrant of the Eisenhower Matrix (a/k/a the Eisenhower Method).
I’ve been working on and evolving my approach…
